After doctors conducted a few tests, it was determined that he had a tumor growth on his hip bone, which ended up being Osteosarcoma - an aggressive form of bone cancer. Henry was faced with making a difficult decision; spend the next year undergoing treatments or succumb to the tumor and be unable to ever play football again.

Following Avery’s diagnosis, he underwent months of rigorous treatments and chemotherapy to combat the cancer. Despite facing an onslaught of side effects such as frequent nausea, extreme fatigue and chronic pain, Avery persevered and pushed through his treatments with a positive attitude.
