Ohio State OL Coach Justin Frye to Take Job with Arizona Cardinals, Leaving Buckeyes with Coaching Void

Major news that reaches both college and the NFL alike as Ohio State offensive line coach Justin Frye is expected to take the same position with the Arizona Cardinals. Frye, in his third year with the Buckeyes, jumps to the NFL after helping the Buckeyes with a national championship this season. His exit indeed represents a significant transition for Ohio State as a replacement is tasked with taking such an important job in its staff, while this is a vital addition for a Cardinals club intent on strengthening depth on the field, especially around the offensive line.

Frye's Time at Ohio State and to the NFL

Justin Frye's time in Columbus has been one filled with ups and downs. Since his arrival in 2022, he brought instant excitement as an offensive line coach and associate head coach for offense. Frye took over duties from Greg Studrawa in the Buckeyes' coaching circle. He experienced his best this season, steering through a serious of major injuries to the line, including losses of starting left tackle Josh Simmons and Rimington Trophy-winning center Seth McLaughlin. With these setbacks Frye still could field a cohesive unit that was sacked only four times during a playoff run where it out-gained opponents 392 yards combined on the ground. It was that resilience that allowed Ohio State to win the national championship and complete a year of ups and downs.

Most remarkably, he used more than 20 different combinations of offensive linemen throughout the season-a coaching feat, to say the least. Still, Frye's year wasn't without its criticism. Frye did catch some heat for his recruiting, which had been below the typical standard set by Ohio State. Since his arrival, he signed only two top-100 offensive linemen: in-state products Luke Montgomery and 2025 signee Carter Lowe. Depth was also a concern, particularly at tackle, but the on-field product quieted many of his critics.

Now, Frye is in line for his first NFL coaching job with the Arizona Cardinals, filling a position vacated by Klayton Adams when he was hired as offensive coordinator of the Dallas Cowboys. It reunites Frye with former Ohio State standout Paris Johnson Jr., the Cardinals' starting left tackle and a 2023 first-round draft pick whom Frye coached during his final season with the Buckeyes. With Frye's experience coaching the offensive line at a high level at stops such as UCLA, Boston College, and Temple, and a brief stint as UCLA's offensive coordinator under Chip Kelly, he was too good to pass up for the Cardinals. He reportedly interviewed for a similar role with the Chicago Bears earlier this week, meaning the NFL had a high interest in his expertise.

Impact on the Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals are adding a coach who has shown the ability to develop talent and handle adversity. Frye's work in retooling Ohio State's offensive line, particularly midway through the season with the losses of two All-Americans, has been widely praised by analysts and players alike. His new role in Arizona also opens the door to working with former Buckeye's star wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr., coming off his rookie season with the Cardinals. Having an Arizona team striving to improve performance in the trenches, Frye's hiring becomes a strategic attempt to bring stability and expertise to the unit.

Ohio State's Next Challenge: Filling the Huge Shoes of Frye

And for Ohio State, his move leaves a hole that is at least as wide as the gigantic shoes he occupies-the second coaching vacancy in this offseason alone after defensive coordinator Jim Knowles left for Penn State. It is an especially difficult time, with Ohio State set to defend its national title in the 2025 season. Head coach Ryan Day will have to move fast to find a replacement who can keep the offensive line performing while trying to fix the recruiting and depth issues that plagued Frye's tenure.

A few potential candidates have emerged as possible replacements. One of those options could come in the form of Kevin Wilson, a former Ohio State offensive coordinator and tight ends coach whose coaching resume in regard to leading the offensive line dates back all the way to Oklahoma in the early 2000s. Recently let go after a two-year stint at the helm for Tulsa, he has deep connections with the program and would represent a very comfortable face for Day to welcome aboard. Another in-house option is Tim Drevno, currently an offensive quality control coach for the Buckeyes. However, Ohio State is also expected to explore external candidates to ensure the best fit for the program’s long-term goals.

Day has emphasized the importance of finding the right person to continue the program’s success, not just in terms of on-field results but also in player development. As he said following the national championship, his coaching philosophy is about helping young men reach their goals and dreams, which will more than likely guide the hiring process. The next offensive line coach will have to hit the ground running, particularly on the recruiting trail, if Ohio State is going to stay ahead in college football.

Looking Ahead

Frye's rise to the NFL is a new chapter in his career, epitomizing how to beat the odds while delivering results in the highest college football echelon. Ohio State, meanwhile, will look toward continuing its trajectory of championships amidst the coaching gaps left by both Frye and Knowles. How the Buckeyes adapt will be one of the biggest storylines going into the 2025 season.

Considering Frye, being reunited with Paris Johnson Jr. and the opportunity to work with an offensive line needing improvement at the Cardinals may set the stage for a very successful NFL coaching debut. For Ohio State, his loss is a gain, as it simply shows the type of coaches that have come through the program.

In all, Justin Frye's move to the Arizona Cardinals is a moment of importance both for himself and the programs concerned. Ohio State has to deal with how it will replace a coach who was integral to its recent championship success, while Frye is off into a new challenge in the NFL. The next few weeks are important for both parties as they look toward their respective futures.

Summary of the 2025 College Football National Championship Game

Overview of the Game:

The 2025 College Football Playoff National Championship was a pretty interesting match between Ohio State Buckeyes and Notre Dame Fighting Irish held in Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta, Georgia. Ohio State defeated the Notre Dame team with a score of 34-23 which ended on January 20, 2025. It added the ninth national championship to Ohio State and the first in the College Football Playoff era since its victory in 2015.

First Half:

Notre Dame scored in a strong opening drive with 18 plays, adding quarterback Riley Leonard on a 1-yard touchdown. Ohio State replied just as quick; quarterback Will Howard reached wide receiver Jeremiah Smith to take it in for the score. Then Ohio State's Quinshon Judkins scored with the Buckeyes to give them the lead on a 9-yard run.

Notre Dame wasn't any sharper on their second drive either, but the completions by Leonards to Kris Mitchell and Eli Raridon set up substantial yardage. Ohio State finished the first half well again with a third score by Judkins and left at halftime Ohio State 21, Notre Dame 7.

Second Half:

Ohio State would come out to start the third hot when Will Howard's touchdown pass stretched it to 28-7. The Buckeyes would eventually move in range and settle a few minutes later at 31-71 for them. Notre Dame would not just wilt and go away either as it answered with an Irish touchdown two point-conversion making it now 31-15.

Notre Dame was on one continuum in the fourth quarter with another touchdown and another two-point conversion that put them at a deficit of 31-23. But the Buckeyes had an answer for everything on Monday as Will Howard of Ohio State found Jeremiah Smith for 56 yards. That resulted in a field goal and Ohio State closing it out, 34-23.

The Buckeyes' defense was solid in the final minutes to seal their win for the national title. It was Ohio State's first national championship since 2014.

Awards Ceremony:

The post-game awards ceremony gave the following awards to both teams:

Offensive MVP: Ohio State quarterback Will Howard took home the Offensive MVP in this game because he was calm and precise throughout, managing the tempo of the game when called upon to deliver.

Defensive MVP: The defensive MVP of the game was Cody Simon, who had an outstanding performance to lead Ohio State in tackles with eight, including one for loss1, enabling the Buckeyes to defeat Notre Dame.

The ceremony also honored the resilience and spirit of both teams, noting Notre Dame's remarkable run to the championship despite its early-season loss. Ohio State was presented with the CFP National Championship Trophy, sponsored by Dr Pepper, a historic moment for the team and its fanbase.

Post-Game Reflections:

The post-game analysis that followed praised Ohio State's game plan on defense while giving considerable notice to the coaches' preparation and in-game adjustments. Notre Dame was applauded for their tenacity and the development under head coach Marcus Freeman-who, against the loss, showed a great deal of progress with the team.

The 2025 National Championship ended Ohio State's drought of championships, but more importantly, perhaps, it laid the bedrock for a new series of future match-ups between them, as each team notched another entry in the annals of their rivalry. It was further evidence of what this expanded 12-team playoff format brings for college football: excitement and unpredictability.

It was the perfect finish to an amazing season with high-voltage displays of college football talent, skillful tactics, and enthusiasm.

Ohio State Basketball: Texas in the Season Opener and More

 Hey, Buckeyes fans!

It must be a pretty big week for Ohio State sports, and the OSU basketball team is firmly in the middle of it. We will get into the latest news herein, starting with probably the most awaited season opener against Texas, then touch some football highlights, as well.

Ohio State vs Texas: Season Opener

The Ohio State men's basketball team tips off the season against No. 20 Texas on November 4th in Las Vegas. And though there have been some minor dings and dents from a slew of spirited practices under first-year head coach Jake Diebler, the Buckeyes should be ready for the national showing of their skills. The anxious fans await how the team takes to the new head coach.

Key Players to Watch

One to watch is 7-1 Kentucky transfer Aaron Bradshaw, who returns after not playing in the exhibition game against Cincinnati because of an elbow injury. His presence should add depth to the Ohio State front-court. Junior guard Bruce Thornton is a candidate for the Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy Men's College Player of the Year watch-list. With that consistent performance and leadership, Thornton will be crucial as the Buckeyes go up against Texas.

Jake Diebler's New Beginnings

This marks the first season with Jake Diebler as the head coach of Ohio State men's basketball. He has been exerting more effort to define roles and build chemistry in his players, most of whom are new in the program. The team is determined to play tough and to play hard as they want a good start for this season.
Health and Preparation

Diebler sounded confident about the health of the team as he stated that the team was "close to full strength" for the season opener. The Buckeyes have been engaged in some warm-up games and in-house scrimmages to better prepare them for the oncoming challenges. With most players getting back from minor injuries, the team is free and raring to go against Texas.

Football Highlights

Ohio State-Penn State Showdown

Where the men's basketball team is going to start its first game of this season this week, the football team is getting ready to play a big game against Penn State Nittany Lions this weekend. Moreover, this game is very crucial with respect to the Big Ten competition and the College Football Playoff. Ohio State is trying to avoid its second loss inside the conference. Ohio State is trying to avoid its second conference loss. On the other hand, Penn State seeks to stay undefeated.

Will Howard's Quest for Vindication

Ohio State quarterback Will Howard has a personal score to settle. A suburban Philadelphia product, he dreamed of playing at Penn State, but the Nittany Lions never offered a scholarship. Now, as a transfer from Kansas State, he is determined to prove himself against his childhood team.

Drew Allar's Injury Unacknowledged

Star quarterback Drew Allar, it is reported, is a game-time decision due to an injury in his left knee. If he is not good to go, then backup Beau Pribula will take over the duties again, just like he did in last week's victory over Wisconsin.

How It Will End

This will be a closely contested, hard-nosed affair. The recent trends may be in favor of Ohio State, but it should be considered that Penn State had an outstanding season and home-field advantage, which may make the difference. Penn State would be in a far better position to win if Allar starts, but if he is out, Ohio State pulls away.

Now is a perfect time to be a Buckeyes fan. The basketball team will face a ranked Texas team, and the football team must win against Penn State to maintain its playoff chances. The question is: do you think Ohio State will start out strong against Texas in the start of the basketball season and keep their football playoff hopes alive against Penn State?

Lincoln Kienholz: The Future Star of Ohio State Football

In middle America, where football transcends sport and becomes a way of life, a star is on the horizon. Lincoln Kienholz, the rising star who might just become the next quarterback for the Ohio State Buckeyes, has officially cemented his place within this hallowed squad.

A New Era Dawns

This past Thursday marked a monumental juncture in Kienholz's journey. The young quarterback saw his black stripe ceremoniously removed, a cherished Ohio State tradition that signifies a player's formal induction into the team. This pivotal moment not only attests to Kienholz's personal triumph but also heralds the dawn of a fresh chapter for the Buckeyes.

Embracing Tradition

The black stripe tradition stands as a distinctive rite of passage at Ohio State. As newcomers don the Buckeye colors for the first time, a black stripe is affixed to their helmets. The removal of this stripe serves as a public proclamation by the coaching staff and fellow teammates, affirming that the player embodies the dedication, skill, and Buckeye spirit requisite to stand as a true representative of Ohio State on the gridiron.

Eager Anticipation

With the removal of his black stripe, Kienholz is now unequivocally a Buckeye. Stepping into the potential quarterback role for the future, expectations run high. However, judging by Kienholz's performance up to this point, it's clear that he's not just ready to meet those expectations – he's likely to surpass them with flying colors.

In Summation, Lincoln Kienholz's voyage as an official Buckeye is just commencing. As he takes the field, devoid of the symbolic black stripe, he carries with him the aspirations and aspirations of Buckeye Nation. Only time will unveil the thrilling narrative that awaits in the annals of Ohio State football history.

Unveiling Gridiron Glory: Ohio State Gears Up for Showdown Against Indiana

As the anticipation in Columbus, Ohio reaches its crescendo, Buckeye Nation readies itself for the electrifying clash on Saturday when the scarlet and gray warriors of Ohio State march onto the gridiron to face off against Indiana. The echoes of tradition and the weight of expectations converge as Coach Ryan Day makes a resolute choice, designating Kyle McCord as the quarterback to lead the charge in the season opener against Indiana.

In the heart of Hoosier country, the football intellects at Indiana have been delving into the annals of history, meticulously analyzing the high school tape of Ohio State's quarterbacks. Their preparation is an embodiment of the meticulousness demanded by the game, a testament to the ceaseless commitment that underpins the gridiron battles.

For Indiana's new quarterback, the stage is set for a baptism by fire. Saturday (3:30pm on CBS), stepping into the spotlight demands not only skill but also an unflinching courage to navigate the pressure-laden moments and emerge stronger from the crucible of competition.

Amidst the palpable excitement, a pivotal subplot unfolds: the ascension of Brian Hartline to the role of coordinator.

On the front lines, the Buckeyes' center position finds its anchor in Carson Hinzman. With the resolute decision to start Hinzman over the experienced Louisiana-Monroe transfer Vic Cutler, Coach Day demonstrates his penchant for bold choices as Ohio State sets sail on its opening voyage.

As the Buckeyes gear up to extend their impressive 27-game winning streak against the Hoosiers, history stands as their steadfast ally. This remarkable streak, a towering testament to their conference supremacy, outshines all others by a margin of 16 games. Amongst the tapestry of triumphs against conference rivals, only three streaks have managed to breach the double-digit threshold: Indiana (27), Minnesota (11), and Northwestern (10).

Yet, even within the realm of unparalleled success, intriguing odds surface. The scarlet and gray contenders for glory find themselves with slightly longer odds to clinch the national championship than their arch-rivals, the Michigan Wolverines. The irony is undeniable; a narrative that defies conventional wisdom. Given Michigan's recent back-to-back triumphs in the Big Ten, logic would dictate shorter odds for them. However, the whims of fate and the unpredictable essence of football continue to keep the odds makers on their toes.

Cade Stover Loses His Black Stripe

People always chose different sportsmen as their ideal personality. That individual can either be footballer, cricketer, badminton player, rugby football player, or any other sports. Cade Stover is a player recently playing from Ohio State Buckeyes. He joined this club a few months back as an outside linebacker (OLB) that is an important position to cover. Stover has a height of 6 feet and 5 inches with 235 lbs. weight. He is no doubt one of the best players in this sport due to physique and technique. Let’s have a look at the more details about Cade Stover.

Attributes of Cade Stover

CadeStover is a 4-star player with extreme athleticism and agility to take over his opponents. The stats clearly show his recent performances as he has 178 tackles in this last season. Furthermore, Stover rushed for 1497 yards and he has 2 forced fumbles under his badge as well. He is not only a consistent performer, but the head coach of Ohio State said that “He is the game-changer irrespective of the possession”. He also won a title of Mr. Football by Ohio State in 2018.

Playing Positions

Stover looks like a quarterback player with his height and weight but that’s not true at all. During his junior year, he used to play as a center. He completed 43 passes out of 104 attempts however it wasn’t an ideal position for him. He faced a minor injury in the interim of 2017 season, but he recovered soon. After that, he played on his recent position of an outside linebacker (OLB).

Recent Events

Losing the Black Stripe

Stover has become 6th player (16th player overall) from the recruiting class of 2019 who is now officially a Buckeye. Stover was rated as No.7 outside linebacker (OLB) and No.114 overall player in the class. He lost his black stripe on 13 August 2019 with recorded 178 tackles out of which 92 are solo tackles. Moreover, he is the fifth defensive player who has won the Mr. Ohio Footballaward in 2018. Due to these reasons and improved position, the administration is looking forward to an overwhelming 2019 season.

Expected Position and Future Opportunity

The lineup of linebacker for Buckeyes is quite complex as they have eight returning players. Therefore, future opportunity and survival as a linebacker are difficult for three new linebackers including Stover. He is an exceptional player with explicit skill-set who can perform in any situation and he can make his mark quickly. If he joins as a linebacker, there will be two senior LB in front of him with a ton of experience and enhanced skills.

Another problem for Stover is that Ohio State has recruited three linebackers in the last three years of classes. He won’t be getting enough chance as permanent linebacker until he is a senior player with extended expertise. However, the best trait of Stover is his versatility as he can play any of the LB position. It is not essential for him to join as No.1 central linebacker to have a look at the field. He just wants to be on the field among three best linebackers. If he is given consistent chances, he will eventually win the hearts of coaches soon and might replace a senior player.

Bowling Green Wide Receiver Ronnie Moore Voices His Opinion

Today, Ronnie Moore decided to make a compelling statement during Bowling Green's Pre-game banter at Ohio State.

He believes the nation is overlooking him and his Falcon teammates, despite their many accomplishments. They are well-known for their impressive passing offense, and they also won the Mid-American Conference championship twice in the past three years.

According to Moore, Ohio State and Bowling Green are attempting to reload this year, but Bowling Green isn't ranked among the top 10 teams like Ohio State. He thinks his team should seize the moment and use this opportunity to make their mark.

He is very enthusiastic about playing big teams to get notability. He told The Blade what he wishes to do to Ohio State, which is "knock them off so we can get ranked".

Bowling Green already played three Power Five teams about one year ago. During a grand pre-season schedule, they took on Tennessee and lost in a tight game. However, they went on to defeat Purdue and Maryland in the Big Ten.

Ronnie Moore rushed for 248 yards and completed 22 catches in these three games. The 5-foot-9, 170 pound WR welcomes all challenges, since he is trying to overcome every team on his primary target list.

Because he is currently the only proven receiver on the Falcons, Ohio State will have him in their sights quite often. Nevertheless, he encourages his younger teammates to play hard so they can defeat top-ranked teams together.

Many fans are wondering how he is going to achieve this goal without Roger Lewis and Gehrig Deiter. These two players were definitely an asset, but he believes the Falcons can excel even though they have much to prove.

Antjuan Simmons Commits To Ohio State

Antjuan Simmons is going to be a Ohio State Buckeye. (Ad: H&R Block Tax Filing Discounts at http://2015Taxes.org)

Although his high school is extremely close to Michigan Stadium in Ann arbor, this 3-star LB has committed to play football with the Buckeyes. Apparently, Simmons isn't worried about traveling the longer distance to Ohio.  He also wasn't influenced by the fact that he attends the  same high school that Michigan's coach attended.

Antjuan Simmons announced his decision to attend Ohio State University via his Twitter account.  He thanked all of the other schools that made offers, but he choose Ohio State University.

Antjuan Simmons received 40 scholarship offers per 247Sports, and this includes offers from colleges in close proximity such as Michigan State and Michigan.  He also has received offers from Penn State, Tennessee, Notre Dame, Texas A&M, Oregon and UCLA.  This is a long list of prestigious colleges that are known for their prized football programs.

He is rated the 27th best high school linebacker in the nation and the 11th best player in Michigan per 247Sports.  These stats probably won't stay the same because of the numerous offers he has received.  Unfortunately, this tends to change the way players are rated by recruitment websites.

Antjuan Simmons is the 12th high school football player to commit to the Ohio State Buckeyes from the class of 2017.  This list includes two 5-star recruits, and it has a ranking of number one per 247Sports.

However, Antjuan Simmons is the first linebacker from the 2017 class that has made a commitment to the Ohio State University Buckeyes football team.  But the school is quickly recruiting plenty of talent from this 2017 class, which means there will be more recruits.

2014 Ohio State Football Pro Day: A Day Of Lessons

The past Buckeyes linebacker, Etiene Sabino, and 16 other former Buckeyes graced a training session on Friday during the Annual Ohio State Football Pro Day.

The primary order of business was a bunch of four players with divergent talents and the ability to be drawn in the first round pick. The players included running back Carlos Hyde, linebacker Ryan Shazier, cornerback Bradley Roby and Jack Mewhort, an offensive lineman.

What could have been a successful workout session turned out to be a drab anticlimax as all of the 17 former Buckeyes we unable to complete the arduous drilling practice session due to injury or fatigue.

However, all was not lost during the Annual Ohio State Football Pro Day. The fans got what they deserved as they were able to witness the former Buckeyes doing what they used to do so well. Plus, various lessons were harvested which will become cemented when applied to future fantasy football leagues.
Ryan is outlandish

Shazier picked up a hamstring injury before the NFL Scouting combine. He was therefore unable to run the 40-yard sprint he was guilty of failing to complete on Friday due to a similar hamstring problem.

Nonetheless, he staged some mad results

Shazier clocked an unofficial 4.36 seconds. Even though this appears quick it could get worse the moment it becomes official and hits the airwaves. It is the best time for linebackers and the 4th best when all the player's speeds are analysed together.

When in Indianapolis, Ryan Shazier executed the highest ever vertical jump, a spine chilling 42 inches. He is evidently fiery. His thunderbolt speed, classy tactics and excellent technique were all displayed on Friday and they are on record.

Shazier will be absent in the second round.

Mewhort's diversity was on show in Columbus as he played left tackle for the majority of the time and also started at right and left guard is some matches.

In the NFL he however preferred to remain at tackle. With a weight of 315lbs and a height of 6.6 inches he will surely be able to get a stint or two.

It will be an awesome idea for Mewhort to try out different positions as there are no guarantees in the NFL. Most NFL teams have a lot of versatility in their ranks and players who can play different positions.

Any player who harbors hopes of being picked for the first team must be willing and able to play in different roles.

Besides, being drafted is what all players dream of.

Look forward to seeing Kenny Guiton training for the Patriots.

The good news for Kenny Guiton is that the New England Patriots have a gnac for mounting the Big 10 quarterbacks. Remember, this is the same team that helped Tom Brady (Michigan) to scale the heights of success and earn a place in the Hall of Fame.
