A Texan Tale: Carlon Jones' Journey from Bay City to Ohio State

In the heart of Texas football country, where the Friday night lights illuminate dreams of gridiron glory, one name is making waves - Carlon Jones.  Jones, originally committed to Nebraska as the crown jewel of their 2024 defensive line class, recently made headlines by de-committing and reopening his recruitment. Carlon Jones also had offers from California, Georgia Tech, and Oklahoma State.

Imagine the excitement rippling through the Bay City community as they learned that Carlon Jones, their standout defensive lineman, had an official visit lined up with none other than Ohio State over the weekend of December 8th. The buzz began when OSU's defensive line coach, Larry Johnson, extended an offer to Jones on a crisp October 30th. Adding another feather to his helmet, the class of 2024 recruit achieved the remarkable feat of being named the 12-4A Division 1 All-District MVP on a recent Monday afternoon.

Decommittment on X

In a recent turn of events, the Bay City faithful were hit with news that both surprised and intrigued them. Carlon Jones, the linchpin of Nebraska's 2024 class, made a significant decision on Tuesday night. With a touch of spirituality, Jones took to social media to share his revelation, stating, "God has changed my pathway." Bay City, with its close-knit community, surely felt the impact of this shift, as Jones announced his de-commitment from the Huskers and the reopening of his recruitment.

Visit to Columbus

The anticipation was high, and Jones was set to witness the Buckeyes in action during their final home game against Minnesota. However, life threw a curve-ball, forcing him to reschedule his visit to the chilly days of December.

Originally slated to attend the Buckeyes' final home game against Minnesota, Jones had to reschedule his visit to December, heightening the anticipation surrounding his potential commitment to Ohio State. If he chooses the Scarlet and Gray, he would join an elite group of defensive linemen in the Buckeyes' heralded 2024 class, standing shoulder to shoulder with Eddrick Houston and Eric Mensah.

As the story of Carlon Jones unfolds, it mirrors the unpredictable twists and turns of a Texas two-step. In the heart of Bay City, where football is more than a game, the community eagerly awaits the next chapter, hopeful for the continued success of their hometown hero.

Caden Curry Heading to Ohio State in 2022

Defensive lineman Caden Curry is one of the top 2022 Defensive Line prospects coming out of Center Grove High School in Greenwood Indiana. Caden stands at 6'4" and weighs in at 250 pounds this season. He has a great physical build and really uses his size to his advantage, making him very hard to block from the offensive line.

Curry, a Defensive Lineman out of Center Grove High School in Greenwood, Indiana is one of the top prospects for the class of 2022. He will be enrolling into school as a Freshman to play Football at Ohio State. This lineman has been playing football since he was seven years old. Starting on his Middle School Defensive line Caden has played both Tackle and End but predominantly plays Defensive Tackle.

Caden is an extremely hard worker off field doing everything he can to become a better player and person. He even spends his time doing something that helps him with both traits… working out. "I work out three times a week for about two hours each day," said Curry. "We work on strength and conditioning, and then we go over technique on film."

While preparing for college football, the graduating senior spends most of his time in the weight room getting stronger and faster so that he may be ready when he makes it to Ohio State next year. Curry's height, weight and strength are all attributes that he uses to his advantage while playing high school football. He has the frame to put on 30 plus pounds of muscle too.

Curry's top of the line athleticism and quickness allows him to throw offensive lineman off balance in an instant. Once Caden gets through the offensive lineman he looks to get after his quarterback or make a play behind the line of scrimmage. He's comfortable playing both with his hands up or with his hands in the dirt. Curry is a strong player that finishes off his opponent on nearly every play. He's a heavy hitter who can take over games when he plays with intensity.

In the 2022 season Caden had 53 tackles,13 Tackles for Loss and 5 Sacks in 10 Games. He has stated that his goal for this upcoming season is to be known as one of the most ferocious defensive players in the Midwest.
