Wood bats are solid and are harder to swing than metal (aluminum) bats and are heavier. Baseball bats are usually in the 31- to 33-inch range. Some hitter will choose to go an inch shorter, but few go with bigger bats. Baseball bats are given ratings based on their length (inches) and weight (ounces). So, if a bat with a rating of (-10) is 33 inches long, it weighs 23 ounces."
